Let in the Light

In the heart of West Byfleet, Surrey, at St. John's Church, an exciting collaboration unfolded under the banner of "Let in the Light." This project, both vibrant and reverent, was a testament to the power of community, creativity, and the sacred interplay of colour within the liturgy. I, as the artist, embarked on a journey that led to the creation of four large and captivating artworks, each embodying the hues and emotions associated with the liturgical seasons: red, purple, green, and white.

Instead of the usual art supplies, I ventured into the unknown, rummaging through our closets for recycled fabrics, scoured for leftover haberdashery, and begged, borrowed, or swiped donated buttons, threads, and embellishments. And in a stroke of genius (or perhaps just a dash of quirkiness), I decided to throw sweet wrappers and paper into the mix. Why? Because who knew a sweet wrapper could be so profound?!
